SIP moved to a New Ministry
What many volunteers don’t know is that the Social Investment Programmes (SIP), of which N-Power Programme is among has been moved to the new Ministry of Humanitarian affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development.
In a real sense, when a new ministry is created, government will rather move staff from other ministry to the new ministry and hire few hands if need arise. Nevertheless, it will be a thing of joy to N-Power volunteers if this transition could result into something permanently. Since that is what we have been praying for. The important thing about this movement is that the N-Power Programme and other NSIP Programme will be sustained even after this administration is out of office.
This new Ministry is headed by Hajia Sadiya Umar-Farouq.
The National Social Investment Programme (NSIP) which comprises of group of programmes CCT, N-POWER, NHGSFP, FHKMNER, GEEP under the National Social Investment Office (NSIO), a social security agency created in 2015 by the Federal Government of Nigeria to manage social investment programmes within Nigeria has now been moved to the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development. This was confirmed in President Muhammadu Buhari Independence day speech today October 1st 2019.
A special assistant to the honourable minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development will be aanounce to also coordinate the affairs of the N-power team. You may have seen the last of Mr. Afolabi here on the Npower pages as well as other aides of the Vice president who presided over the programme.
Social Investment Programme (SIP) to be Institutionalized.
To institutionalize these impactful programmes, we created the Ministry for Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development which shall consolidate and build on our achievements to date. To the beneficiaries of these programmes, I want to reassure you that our commitment to social inclusion will only increase”, Buhari said in the broadcast.
