Federal Government Approves Increment to all N-SIP Schemes in the Country – Read More

The Federal Government of Nigeria has approved the increment in the number of N-Power batch C beneficiaries to 1million.

The President, Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development to increase N-Power beneficiaries from the initial 500, 000 to 1,000,000.

The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Farouq confirmed the Presidency order on Monday, 1st December 2020.

She said: “In a bid to realize Mr. President’s commitment to lift 100 million Nigerians out of poverty in the next 10 years, the ministry places significant emphasis on youth empowerment by strategically ascertaining youth engagement as a foundational objective in implementing the following strategies: double the scope of the National Social Investment Programmes, to accommodate more beneficiaries.

According to the Minister, “Mr. President has graciously approved the expansion of all N-SIP programmes, such as Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT), increase of N-Power beneficiaries from 500,000 to 1,000,000, increase GEEP beneficiaries by 1,000,000 and increase of beneficiaries of Home-Grown School Feeding by 5,000,000.”

Meanwhile, over 5 million Nigerian youths applied for the N-Power Batch C recruitment.

As stated by Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Umar Farouq, About 3.7 million households comprising more than 15.5 million individuals have been captured on the National Social Register.

In line with the President’s directive to expand the National Social Register, we have developed a strategy for targeting the urban poor.

This register will use existing databases from the National Communications Commission (NCC), and the Bank Verification Number (BVN) from the Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System (NIBSS).

Moreover, Sadiya Umar Farouq has launched NEXIT Portal for ex-N-Power Beneficiaries of batch A and B for an empowerment Programme from the CBN by Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development.
